Mitsubishi Electric is constructing a new factory building at its Power Distribution Systems Works, which manufactures switchgear and circuit breakers, and aims to double its annual production of C-GIS units by fiscal year 2027. The new factory building will consolidate C-GIS production and testing lines that were previously scattered across multiple areas, thereby improving the efficiency of the production process from component receiving to manufacturing and shipping.

In the production line, an automated line will be introduced to shorten the time required for filling insulating gas into C-GIS, reducing gas filling time by approximately 40% and improving productivity. In addition to facilities such as substations, train stations, and buildings, which have been the main applications of C-GIS until now, production of C-GIS compatible with offshore wind power generation, which is attracting attention mainly overseas as a form of renewable energy, will also be expanded.

■ Overview
Location: 8 Horai-cho, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture
Building and total floor area: Building area: approx. 6299m2, Total floor area: approx. 6885m2
Structure: Steel frame (S) construction, 2 stories
Main products: 7.2-84kV C-GIS, C-GIS for offshore wind power
Other initiatives: Development of a new model of C-GIS with dry air insulation for offshore wind power.
Operation start date: Scheduled for October 2026
Investment amount: Approximately 28 billion yen
Environmental and energy-saving measures: solar power generation equipment, high-efficiency equipment (LED lighting, packaged air conditioners, heat exchange ventilation equipment), insulated roofs and exterior walls, Low-E double-glazed windows, power monitoring equipment, rooftop greenery.
