Sales increased due to a recovery in the handling of machine tools and the operation of the newly opened Fuchu warehouse. Operating profit decreased due to the recording of restoration costs associated with the termination of an external warehouse contract and delays in finding tenants for vacant warehouse space resulting from customers consolidating their warehouses.
Furthermore, ordinary profit decreased due to the impact of the strengthening yen, resulting in a foreign exchange loss of 114 million yen being recorded as an non-operating expense.
By segment, the packaging business division saw sales of 3.369 billion yen (up 4.3%) due to a recovery in the handling of machine tools and an increase in the handling of power conversion equipment, while operating profit was 313 million yen (down 5.2%) due to increased initial costs related to stabilizing operations at the Fuchu warehouse.
In the transportation business division, sales fell to 620 million yen (down 4.1%) due to a significant decrease in the handling of medical equipment. However, operating profit increased to 69 million yen (up 39.8%) due to the passing on of increased outsourcing costs to customers and the withdrawal from unprofitable operations.
The warehousing business division saw sales increase to 787 million yen (22.4%) due to the operation of the newly established Fuchu warehouse. However, operating profit decreased to 91 million yen (18.0%) due to the recording of restoration costs associated with the termination of external warehouse leases and delays in finding tenants for vacant warehouse spaces resulting from customer warehouse consolidation.
For the full year, the company projects net sales of 21 billion yen (up 4.4%), operating profit of 950 million yen (down 8.2%), ordinary profit of 730 million yen (down 9.0%), and net profit attributable to parent company shareholders of 490 million yen (up 4.5%).
