Hankyu Hanshin Express announced on August 18 that its Kenyan subsidiary, INTRASPEED ARCPRO (KENYA), has opened a new customs clearance-focused office, the "Ati River EPZ Office," near Nairobi.
Following the 2023 amendment of the Kenyan Revenue Authority's regulations concerning Export Processing Zones (EPZs), customs clearance procedures became mandatory for all goods entering and leaving EPZs. The regulations were also made stricter from 2024 onwards, requiring prior approval from customs before processing operations could begin.
In light of these circumstances, an office has been set up in the office building within the EPZ, and operations will begin on July 1st. Customs clearance staff will be stationed there approximately three days a week to ensure that customs declarations and other procedures can be handled smoothly.
The EPZ where the office is located is 30km southeast of downtown Nairobi and is easily accessible, being about a 30-minute drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The company aims to expand its business while developing services that meet the needs of customers based in the surrounding area.
