Green Coop Fukuoka Consumers' Cooperative announced on August 22nd that, amidst record-breaking heatwaves that have seen record-breaking temperatures across Japan for days, they have introduced 600 of the latest cooling garments (made by XEBEC) and shorts (made by Patagonia) to protect the safety and health of their delivery and warehouse staff.

Starting this June, companies and organizations are now legally required to implement measures to prevent heatstroke. Violations will result in penalties, making safety considerations in the workplace an essential social responsibility.

Green Coop Fukuoka is taking steps to protect the health and safety of its on-site workers, including delivery personnel and warehouse staff. As part of these efforts, they have introduced a total of 600 air-conditioned work clothes incorporating the latest cooling technology. These garments, which use small fans to circulate air inside the clothing to prevent body temperature from rising, have already attracted attention at many construction sites, and staff have reported that they "sweate less and have more energy while working." Furthermore, they are also promoting the use of highly breathable shorts, making continuous efforts to create a more comfortable working environment.

This initiative goes beyond simply complying with laws and regulations; it's a concrete answer to the question, "How can we create a workplace where people can work with peace of mind?"

Green Co-op's operations, which support the lives of local communities, cannot function without the health of its staff. While listening to the voices of those on the ground, they view the extreme heat as a "societal issue" and will continue to search for sustainable solutions together with their colleagues.
