Japan Post will begin selling a limited number of "2025 POST and GIFT" stickers, printed with QR codes that allow recipients to send a selection of gifts, at select post offices in Tokyo starting September 8th.

The system works by attaching the sticker to a postcard or other item and mailing it; the recipient can then access a website via the QR code printed on the sticker and choose their preferred gift.

Customers can choose between "delivery gifts," where food and other items are delivered to their homes, and "digital gifts," which can be displayed on their smartphones and used as gift certificates or coupons at coffee and restaurant chains.

Last year, when we sold New Year's postcards with QR codes printed on them, they were well-received, with customers saying they wanted to use them even outside of the New Year's season.

This year, they've made the QR code into a sticker that can be attached to postcards and letters. They've changed the product to be usable in various situations such as birthdays and greetings, and will be conducting a trial sale at 1461 post offices in Tokyo.

There are three types and tax-inclusive prices: 550 yen (4000 copies issued), 1100 yen (4000 copies), and 3300 yen (2000 copies).

The 550 yen option is available as a digital gift only, while the 1100 yen and 3300 yen options offer a choice between digital and physical delivery.

The stickers will be on sale from September 8th to November 28th. The gift application period is from September 8th to February 28th, 2026.
