On August 27, Prologis released its latest report, which includes research findings such as "the total value of products passing through Prologis' logistics facilities will reach approximately $3.2 trillion (approximately 499.2 trillion yen) in 2024."

This is the fourth edition of a joint research project between Prologis and the research firm Oxford Economics.

The report investigated the value of products that undergo storage, distribution, and processing within the facilities, the job creation at the facilities, and the economic impact of Prologis' logistics facilities owned and operated in 19 countries worldwide.

As a result, the total value of the products reached approximately 499.2 trillion yen, which is equivalent to 4.1% of the GDP of the 19 countries and 2.9% of the world's total GDP.

Furthermore, Prologis' logistics facilities, which cover a total floor area of 120 million square meters, employ 3.6 million people worldwide. This is said to generate an economic impact of $348 billion (approximately 54.288 trillion yen), including direct, indirect, and ripple effects.

In terms of tax revenue, it generated $77 billion (approximately 12.012 trillion yen) worldwide. Since the last survey in 2022, direct employment at Prologis' logistics facilities has increased by 8% globally, with Mexico (up 91%) and Canada (up 47%) seeing particularly large increases.

Prologis states that its facilities "go beyond the scope of logistics facilities to support supply chains and have an impact that contributes to the revitalization of local economies."
