According to the report, the introduction of the "truck log" system and the reservation system for reception have drastically reduced waiting times, and queues have almost completely disappeared. By limiting the number of trucks approaching the loading dock, adjustments have been made to ensure that the automated warehouse's processing capacity is not exceeded, and loading times have almost never exceeded two hours.

Furthermore, since reservation information for the following day is available by the evening of the previous day, it has become possible to prepare in advance, such as preparing loading instructions at the reception desk. The contracted transportation companies have also given positive feedback, saying, "We can load the goods immediately when we arrive at the reserved time, which has made operational management easier."

This achievement is the result of ingenuity at Sanko Seika's Shibata factory, including negotiating berth reservation rules with contracted transportation companies based on data obtainable from truck logs, and verifying the most efficient number of vehicles that can be docked at the automated warehouse at one time.

We are currently aiming for further efficiency improvements through various initiatives, such as expanding the use of the "Truck Log" system at our locations, verifying the efficiency of loading, reducing the need for loading at multiple locations, and palletizing bulk shipments.

Furthermore, the Sanko Seika Shibata Factory has an automated warehouse and the Shibata Fifth Factory warehouse as its main shipping locations, and 50 to 60 trucks come to load products every day. Previously, trucks were accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, which resulted in long queues and consequently long waiting times when multiple vehicles arrived at the same time.

In particular, in automated warehouses, when vehicles docked at all loading docks, the transport capacity was exceeded, and loading sometimes took more than two hours. To understand the reality of these waiting times, data was compiled using handwritten forms, but although certain trends were identified, detailed analysis was not possible, and concrete countermeasures could not be taken.

After considering several berth management systems, we decided to implement "Truck Log" because of its user-friendly interface and its flexibility in accommodating our company's unique rules.
