Laputa Robotics announced on September 4th that eight of its "Laputa AFL" automated forklifts, delivered to Sobu Logistics' Nakane Product Warehouse (Noda City, Chiba Prefecture), have begun operation.

Four "Laputa AFL" units are operating on the first floor and four on the second floor of the Nakane Products Warehouse. They automatically handle the storage from the palletizer to the flat storage area, and the retrieval from the storage area to the vertical conveyor or temporary storage area.
The key is to go beyond simple conventional cargo handling operations, such as transporting pallets from the empty pallet storage area to the pallet magazine rack, or transporting pallets from the vertical conveyor to the empty pallet storage area.
Furthermore, automated transport reduces variations in work, enabling consistent and highly reproducible operations, which in turn reduces the workload on employees.
With the working population declining, and anticipating future difficulties in securing personnel, the decision was made to implement automation measures to improve work efficiency, standardize operations, and stabilize quality.
