Equipped with a dual-fuel main engine that uses ethane as its primary fuel, it is possible to significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional heavy oil-fired vessels.
In its medium-term management plan, "The Adventure to Our Sustainable Future," Iino Kaiun has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and as part of this, is actively investing in next-generation fuels.
Up until now, in addition to dual-fuel vessels that use methanol or LPG as fuel, the company has introduced ammonia-ready vessels that can be converted to ammonia fuel in the future. This vessel has joined the fleet as the first ethane dual-fuel vessel. The company states that it will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the introduction of environmentally friendly vessels.
