On September 11, Azoop released an analysis of trends in truck-related accidents based on data from 13,000 truck drivers.
<Number of accidents per person by length of service and age>

According to this study, truck drivers with less than five years of experience have three times the risk of being involved in an accident compared to those with five or more years of experience.
The survey was conducted with the aim of helping to improve the awareness of safe driving among transportation companies and drivers, and to develop concrete measures to reduce accidents. It analyzed driving data and accident information from "Truckers Manager," a DX service specializing in transportation companies provided by Azoop.
<Number of accidents per driver with less than 5 years of company experience and 5 years or more of experience>

Looking specifically at drivers under 50, those with less than 5 years of company experience are about three times more likely to be involved in accidents compared to drivers with 5 years or more of experience, suggesting that accidents are more likely to occur with less company experience.
It is presumed that whether or not an accident occurs largely depends on each company's level of familiarity with delivery operations, that is, their familiarity with the type and size of vehicle they drive, delivery routes and times, and loading/unloading locations and rules.
<Number of accidents per driver by company tenure>

The number of accidents tends to decrease or remain stable as drivers' tenure with the company increases, suggesting that accumulated experience contributes to safer driving.
<Number of accidents per driver aged 60 and over, by length of service>

For employees aged 60 and over, there was no significant variation in the number of accidents per person based on length of service. While the rate was slightly higher for those in their first five years with the company, it was not significantly different compared to other age groups.
This is likely because the driving skills, crisis prediction abilities, and safety awareness cultivated through years of driving experience contribute to preventing accidents.
<Number of accidents per person compared by age group>

Looking at the data by age group, drivers in their 20s have the highest number of accidents per person. This is likely due not only to their length of service with the company, but also to their simply limited driving experience.
The above survey revealed that, when examined by age group, drivers in their 20s tended to have a higher accident rate per person compared to other age groups. Furthermore, the study indicated that "length of service at a company" significantly influences the accident rate.
These results suggest that, in order to reduce traffic accidents caused by drivers, it is important to provide safe driving education and awareness training not only to young drivers but also to drivers with short tenures at the company.
