On September 17, Mitsubishi Foods announced that, in cooperation with its subsidiary Best Logistics Partners and Mitsubishi Corporation Plastics, it has established a resource recycling scheme using discarded folded containers as raw materials.

In July, they launched an initiative to recycle discarded logistics materials (folding containers) through four processes: 1. collection, 2. crushing, 3. material processing, and 4. remanufacturing folding containers using a raw material blend of 50% recycled material and 50% virgin (new) raw material.
As a result, by minimizing the environmental impact through the effective use of plastic resources, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions generated during manufacturing and incineration compared to folding containers made from virgin (new) plastic materials. Recycling 1000 folding containers contributes to the circulation of approximately 2800 kg of plastic resources.
Moving forward, based on the results achieved in the Kanto area, we will expand folding container recycling to logistics centers nationwide and strengthen our efforts toward realizing a circular economy.
The Mitsubishi Foods Group has set "simultaneous resolution of key sustainability issues" as its purpose, and has set a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 60% compared to fiscal year 2016 by 2030, and is promoting company-wide efforts toward building a sustainable society.
