On September 18, Mitsui E&S announced that, together with its U.S. subsidiary PACECO, it had received an order from Total Terminals International (TTI) in Long Beach, California, for two large quay container cranes (product name "Portena").
The ordered portaigner has an outreach of over 70m and is capable of handling 24,000 TEU class container ships, making it one of the largest portaigners delivered by Mitsui E&S to the area including the Port of Long Beach and the adjacent Port of Los Angeles.
This will be TTI's first order for portenas, but Mitsui E&S has supplied TTI with 24 tire-type transfer cranes since the 2000s.
Amidst growing demand for cranes based on national security in the United States, Mitsui E&S and PACECO aim to meet this demand and expectation, providing a new crane procurement option aligned with trade policy, and becoming trusted partners for customers in U.S. ports.
