According to the August transportation trends released by Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight) on August 20, the total transportation volume for August was 1,995,000 tons (up 4.2%), consisting of 1,335,000 tons of containerized cargo (up 8.8% year-on-year) and 659,000 tons of carload cargo (down 4.1%).

| コ ン テ ナ | Car handling | Total | |
| Actual performance (thousand tons) | 1,335 | 659 | 1,995 |
| Compared to the previous year (%) | 108.8 | 95.9 | 104.2 |
In general, the domestic economy continues to show a gradual recovery trend, despite sluggish growth in personal consumption due to prolonged high prices, and the company's total transportation performance exceeded that of the previous year.
Container shipments exceeded the previous year's figures due to the transportation of eco-related materials, particularly soil generated from the construction of the Chuo Shinkansen. Consolidated cargo shipments also increased compared to the previous year, partly due to the shift to rail transport and the impact of Typhoon No. 10 last year. Automotive parts shipments also exceeded the previous year's figures due to continued increased shipments from some customers.
In the case of freight transport, while there was demand for leisure activities, this year's performance was lower than the previous year, partly due to increased shipments of petroleum last year as people stockpiled gasoline, diesel, and other fuels in advance following the issuance of a temporary warning about a Nankai Trough earthquake.
