The new facility will begin full-scale operation of eight 20,000-liter animal cell culture tanks this year. By 2028, eight more culture tanks of the same size will be added, giving the facility one of the largest active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production capacities among biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing contract companies in North America.
The new facility, to be built with a total investment of $32 billion, will be able to handle not only the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) but also the contract manufacturing of formulations, and by 2026, it will have a fully integrated contract manufacturing system including the packaging process. Currently, 680 employees work there, and the company plans to employ a total of 1400 people by 2031.
