Zojirushi Corporation has improved the efficiency of its operations and IT asset management, as well as optimized security and costs, by replacing its conventional tablet devices with highly durable Toughbooks used in its logistics operations.

Regarding the effects of the implementation, the robustness has improved, with no reports of malfunctions reported six months after the introduction of the Toughbook FZ-G2. Furthermore, in terms of improved work efficiency, battery life has stabilized, ensuring sufficient operating time for an 8-hour workday.

In terms of reducing maintenance costs, the company was able to make significant improvements to its WMS (Warehouse Management System) application, virtually eliminating the 3-5 cases of over- or under-shipping and incorrect shipments that occurred each month. Having previously used Let's Note laptops as company PCs, the introduction of Toughbook laptops has streamlined the mobile device support process, consolidating inquiries to Panasonic Connect.

Furthermore, security improvements include the ability to manage updates and configure security settings in conjunction with system management tools.

Based on the positive results of this implementation at its East Japan Distribution Center, Zojirushi Corporation is considering introducing 10 units at its Kyushu logistics base and 11 units at its West Japan parts management base, with a company-wide rollout in mind.

Furthermore, concerns about robustness, impact on operational efficiency, maintenance costs, and security risks were present during the implementation process.

Therefore, when selecting the new tablet devices to be introduced, three points were made essential: "high durability," "long battery life and replaceable battery," and "Windows OS." Furthermore, three points were emphasized: "design that prioritizes employee safety," "features that enhance usability in logistics sites," and "convenience that allows tasks to be completed with a single device," leading to the decision to adopt the Toughbook.
