IKEA Japan announced on September 30th that it opened two new product pickup centers (dedicated to large delivery sizes) in Miyazaki and Oita prefectures on September 18th, and expanded its center pickup service (dedicated to small delivery sizes) to a total of 55 locations in Tokyo on September 25th.
IKEA is expanding its "Center Pickup" service nationwide in cooperation with its business partners.
This service involves IKEA delivering products to a nearby pickup center or Sagawa Express branch office, and then customers transporting them themselves from the pickup location to their homes.
The aim is to reduce delivery costs while offering flexible delivery options, and to alleviate the burden of last-mile delivery and contribute to environmental protection by expanding the number of delivery centers.
With this new opening, IKEA now has 57 locations for receiving large items and 470 locations for receiving small items in collaboration with Sagawa Express, bringing its total number of product pickup locations nationwide to 527.
