The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has ordered Japan Post to suspend the use of its light vehicles. 188 vehicles at 111 business locations are affected.

On October 1st, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) notified Japan Post that it was taking action to suspend the use of its light vehicles.

This notice concerns a suspension of vehicle use order based on Article 33 of the Freight Motor Vehicle Transportation Business Act. Effective October 1st, 111 post offices and 188 vehicles will be subject to this administrative action.

They plan to sequentially notify the business operator of the suspension of vehicle use.

In response to the disciplinary action, Japan Post stated, "We take this administrative action very seriously, and as a transportation company, we will thoroughly implement measures to ensure the safety of operations and the safety of our customers and drivers, including reliable roll calls, and we will do our utmost to restore trust."
