The ceremony was held in the hall on the 15th floor of the head office, where President and CEO Takaya Soga delivered a speech to the group's employees.
President Soga began by expressing his gratitude to his predecessors for their efforts and to the current employees who support the company, and then referred to the thinking of Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of Nippon Yusen.
In his address, he also reflected on the company's 140-year history, dividing it into different eras and emphasizing the importance of "human resources" and "technological capabilities" in every era, as well as the spirit of "co-creation," which he described as the strength of Nippon Yusen as a company.
He also mentioned that "Sustainability," "Uncertainty," and "Resilience" were key themes discussed at the World Business Conference for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) held in New York, concluding that considering the resolution of social issues as part of one's business is an essential strength for modern companies.
