On October 3rd, TOPPAN Edge began collaborating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to promote trade DX (digital transformation).
In conjunction with the collaboration, a new "Trade Procedure Efficiency Platform" will be developed to promote digital transformation (DX) in trade and port procedures.
This allows for the extraction of trade-related data from paper and PDF-based forms, and enables integration with various core systems for trade, logistics, and other related fields.

The platform features OCR functionality that uses a large-scale language model (LLM) trained on trade-related documents, and supports unstructured forms, handwritten documents, and multilingual documents. It can read trade-related documents with a high accuracy of 98% (according to the company's research).
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism owns and operates "Cyberport," a data platform that digitizes port logistics, administrative procedures, and port facility information. Starting in February 2026, by integrating the "Trade Procedure Efficiency Platform" with "Cyberport," trade-related businesses such as shippers and customs brokers will be able to automatically input paper and PDF-based information into "Cyberport" without having to manually enter it.
This is expected to reduce tasks such as data entry and checking of entered information for each procedure by approximately 40-60%.
TOPPAN Edge will work to expand the use and improve the convenience of its "Trade Procedure Efficiency Platform," aiming to have it implemented by 20 companies by fiscal year 2026.
Furthermore, the government plans to work towards achieving its goal of increasing the proportion of digitized trade transactions through trade platforms to 10% by fiscal year 2028.
