On October 7, Tiger Corporation announced that it had conducted a field test of a reefer (refrigerated) container equipped with its independently developed "Stainless Steel Sealed Vacuum Insulation Panel TIVIP," and succeeded in reducing power consumption and CO2 emissions by 45.9%.

The "Stainless Steel Sealed Vacuum Insulation Panel TIVIP" utilizes stainless steel, enabling long-term maintenance of non-flammability and high insulation properties that were not achievable with conventional non-stainless steel vacuum insulation materials. By utilizing it in refrigerated transport containers and building materials, it reduces the amount of electrical energy required to maintain temperature, contributing to CO2 reduction.

In Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, on a scorching summer day (average temperature 32.3 degrees Celsius), an experiment was conducted to measure the power consumption of a container with TIVIP added and a conventional reefer container for 7 hours. When the refrigeration unit was operated with the setting to maintain the interior temperature at 5 degrees Celsius, the conventional container's refrigeration unit ran continuously for 7 hours, whereas the TIVIP-equipped container, due to its superior cooling capacity, reduced the operating time to 5 hours (300 minutes), achieving a 45.9% reduction in power consumption and CO2 emissions.

This technology was also adopted for insulated boxes used to transport food ingredients to restaurants both inside and outside the Osaka-Kansai Expo venue. Because it can maintain temperature for extended periods, it enables the transport of frozen and refrigerated goods, as well as "consolidated transport" of goods at different temperature ranges, even on regular trucks.

A representative from Nippon Express, a collaborative partner, commented, "The vacuum insulation panel has extremely high insulation properties, and the 'ProtectBOX Thermal' equipped with this panel has already attracted interest from the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and food industries. We believe it can be used in an even wider range of industries in the future."
