Nissin announced on October 8th that it has launched a dedicated service site for "LiBerth," a lithium-ion battery circular logistics solution that it has developed and is promoting in-house.
Towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, demand for lithium-ion batteries (LiB), including large-scale batteries for vehicles and stationary use, is expected to increase with the expansion of EVs and renewable energy. Consequently, a large amount of spent LiB is anticipated to be generated.
The electrolyte contained in lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) is classified as a hazardous material under the Fire Service Act, and therefore requires storage in hazardous materials warehouses depending on the quantity. However, there is currently a shortage of hazardous materials warehouses nationwide.
Against this backdrop, the company has combined its logistics resources with the technologies of its partner companies to develop a function that handles used lithium-ion batteries (LiBs). The goal is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient battery recycling logistics solution.
In the future, we plan to develop LiB-specific containers that are not only suitable for storage but also for transportation by truck, rail, and ship.
