On October 8th, NAVITIME Japan began offering a route search function in the web version of its truck-specific car navigation app, "Truck Car Navi by NAVITIME," that takes into account permits for driving on restricted roads.

By setting permitted routes in the "Permitted Routes" section within the "Support Functions," the system will include those routes as passable roads and perform optimal route searches.

Setting the route is easy; simply click on the map, and you can operate while checking restricted areas such as road closures for large freight vehicles and areas limited by vehicle size.

The searched route can also be shared with the app, and navigation is available. The route may change as the app takes into account traffic congestion at the time the route is recreated, but it will still suggest the optimal route considering the permitted sections of road.

While standard truck navigation systems search for routes that avoid restricted areas, there have been requests for a solution because some trucks require permission from the local police to pass through restricted areas, such as for loading cargo or transporting construction materials.
