On October 8, Kawasaki Kisen conducted a large-scale accident response exercise simulating a maritime accident involving an LPG carrier owned by one of its group companies.
The exercise was conducted under the scenario that our vessel collided with an inland tanker in Osaka Bay, resulting in an oil leak from the other vessel, crew members from the other vessel falling overboard, and injuries to the crew of our vessel.
The company established an accident response headquarters at its head office, held discussions with the ship management company regarding the response, and implemented a series of processes including coordination and information sharing with internal and external stakeholders, and conducting a mock press conference, to confirm its emergency response system.

<A mock press conference just like the real thing>

During the mock press conference, many questions were asked by those playing the role of reporters, creating a tense atmosphere that was just like a real press conference.
The company considers the safe operation of its vessels to be its top priority as part of its social responsibility as a shipping company, and intends to continue working towards safe operation by preparing for unforeseen circumstances through such exercises in the future.
