The "Ten Outstanding Maritime Students of the Philippines (TOMSP)" were selected through the program, which is supported by the Philippine Maritime Industry Authority and other organizations. This marks the first time that students from a privately run university operated by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines have received this award.
The program targeted approximately 80 maritime universities throughout the Philippines, and two candidates from MMMA, participating for the first time, applied. After leadership camps, examinations, and interviews, their awards were based on their high evaluation of their leadership qualities as women who are expected to play an even greater role in the maritime industry in the future, as well as the resilience and communication skills they cultivated despite their difficult upbringing.
The selection and awards ceremony took place on September 28 in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) stated that it will continue to strive to develop seafarers and create employment opportunities, which are linked to one of the group's sustainability goals: "promoting human activity and the development of local communities."
