Askul issued a second report on the system failure caused by ransomware infection as of 5:30 PM on October 22nd.
The sequence of events is as follows: On the morning of October 19th, an anomaly caused by unauthorized external access was detected. Systems suspected of being infected with ransomware were isolated and the network was shut down. At 4:30 PM on the same day, orders for "ASKUL," "Soloel Arena," and "LOHACO" were suspended.
The scope of the failures primarily involves issues in the warehouse management system (WMS).
As a result, the impact on operations and services is that the inbound and outbound operations at the logistics center controlled by the WMS have been suspended, making it impossible to accept orders. Logistics operations (3PL) handled by group company ASKUL LOGIST have also been suspended.
At this time, no external leakage of personal information or business partner information has been confirmed.
At 2 PM on October 19th, a task force was established, and under this task force, a "Business Continuity Subcommittee" and an "IT Recovery Subcommittee" were set up. In cooperation with external expert organizations, the task force is continuing to identify the scope of the outage and conduct a detailed investigation of its impact.
In addition, to facilitate recovery, a collaborative effort involving approximately 30 external individuals, including engineers from LINE Yahoo and external security companies, has been established. This includes a detailed analysis of system logs and a thorough investigation into the cause and scope of the failure.
