On October 23, Oji Logistics and T2 announced that they will begin a demonstration project to transport rolls of paper used for printing on trunk lines using autonomous trucks on a section of expressway between the Kanto and Kansai regions.

Oji Logistics operates truck transportation services for medium- and long-distance deliveries from Oji Group factories to consumer markets across Japan. Amid concerns about a decline in transport capacity due to a driver shortage, partly due to the "2024 problem," Oji Logistics is positioning autonomous trucks as a new means of transportation, which led to this joint demonstration with T2.
At T2, commercial operations using Level 2 autonomous trucks began in July 2025, in preparation for a trunk line transportation service using Level 4 autonomous driving, which is scheduled to start in 2027. In this demonstration, Level 2 autonomous driving will be used to transport rolls of paper handled by Oji Logistics. Since some rolls of paper weigh more than 1 ton each, the demonstration will verify whether a sustainable logistics system can be established in terms of safety and operation.

The demonstration will begin in October and will be conducted four times a year on a section of the expressway connecting Oji Logistics' Ariake Warehouse (Tokyo) and Oji Logistics' Ajigawa Warehouse (Osaka).
Based on the results of the demonstration, both companies plan to consider collaborating on trunk line transportation services using Level 4 autonomous trucks.
