Namura Shipbuilding announced on October 29 that it had delivered the "SG HORIZON," a vessel built at its Imari shipyard in Saga Prefecture for Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line). It will be the second vessel in the 211,000-ton class LNG/MGO dual-fuel bulk carrier fleet.
The "SG HORIZON" employs propulsion systems and other components that primarily use LNG as fuel, significantly reducing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), a cause of global warming, and sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), which cause air pollution, compared to conventional systems that use heavy oil as fuel.
Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. considers reducing its environmental impact to be one of its most important management priorities and is actively working on the development and construction of next-generation fuel ships.
