Tsubakimoto Chain and Nexa Ware announced on October 30th that they have developed a "remote forklift operation system for logistics warehouses." To verify its functionality, performance, and business viability, they will begin a joint demonstration experiment with Logisteed and Mitsubishi HC Capital on November 4th.
The developed system involves retrofitting existing forklifts with units such as sensors, cameras, and actuators for remote operation. Leveraging Logisteed's knowledge and technical verification know-how gained from remote forklift operation verification, field demonstration experiments will be conducted at Logisteed East Japan's sales office in Gunma Prefecture. In addition, Mitsubishi HC Capital's strength in customer networks will be utilized to conduct a feasibility study for future business development.
<Remote Forklift Evaluation and Verification Machine>

In logistics, the introduction of unmanned forklifts has been slower compared to production sites due to challenges in productivity and versatility. However, by utilizing the developed system, it becomes possible to remotely control forklifts from a control panel installed in a remote location, recognizing camera images and sensor information, thereby enabling virtually unmanned operation.

The demonstration experiment will be conducted at Logisteed East Japan Tatebayashi Sales Office in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture, from November 4th to December 26th. Using an evaluation and verification system, various forklift operations at a logistics center will be conducted to assess the functionality and performance of remote forklifts based on actual warehouse operations. Based on the results of the functionality and performance evaluation, a business feasibility assessment will be conducted, including customer deployment strategies and business scale.
By developing the second unit in parallel with evaluation through demonstrations, we aim to begin trial sales in fiscal year 2025 and commercial sales in fiscal year 2026.
