According to the second quarter (interim) financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026, announced by Iino Kaiun on October 31, net sales were 61.117 billion yen (down 17.4% year-on-year), operating profit was 5.77 billion yen (down 41.7%), ordinary profit was 6.584 billion yen (down 26.4%), and net profit attributable to parent company shareholders was 7.475 billion yen (down 22.4%).
Looking at the breakdown by segment, the international shipping business saw sales of 48.916 billion yen (down 20.7%) and operating profit of 3.864 billion yen (down 52.3%).
In the chemical tanker market, product demand continued to decline due to the slowdown in the Chinese economy and increased uncertainty caused by US tariff policies, resulting in a weaker market compared to the same period last year.
The company stated that it had made efforts to ensure profitability by taking on spot cargo in addition to volume transport contracts, including those for its main routes from the Middle East to Europe and Asia, but was affected by the softening market conditions.
Furthermore, sales in the domestic and coastal shipping sector totaled 5.281 billion yen (down 7.5%), and the company incurred an operating loss of 209 million yen (compared to an operating profit of 225 million yen in the same period of the previous year).
For the full year, the company projects net sales of 1260 billion yen (down 11.2%), operating profit of 118 billion yen (down 31.0%), ordinary profit of 125 billion yen (down 28.0%), and net profit attributable to parent company shareholders of 126 billion yen (down 31.4%).
