World Supply, which provides delivery services and in-store logistics for department stores and large retailers within the SG Holdings Group, and SG Realty opened the "Yatabe Center" in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture on November 1st and began full-scale operations.
SG Realty's first next-generation logistics facility, including a dedicated warehouse for hazardous materials, combines general and hazardous materials warehouses on the same site, providing a one-stop solution for cosmetics logistics.
<Newly constructed hazardous materials warehouse>

The "Yatabe Center" consists of a hazardous materials warehouse, a single-story steel-frame building with a total floor area of 997.20 m2, and a general warehouse, a two-story steel-frame building with a total floor area of 7813.34 m2.
Located approximately 2.2 km from the Yatabe Interchange on the Joban Expressway, it offers excellent access to the city center. In addition to being in an area with solid ground and a low risk of liquefaction, the general warehouses are designed with business continuity planning (BCP) measures in mind, including solar power generation equipment.

A key feature of the center is its ability to store and ship both hazardous materials and general merchandise on the same premises. It can also handle certain cosmetics, such as perfumes and hair oils, which are classified as "hazardous materials" under the Fire Service Act due to their high alcohol and oil content.
To accommodate imported cosmetics, we have a fully equipped cosmetics manufacturing facility capable of affixing Japanese ingredient labels, and we provide a one-stop service for all stages of cosmetics logistics, from receiving and sample testing to manufacturing, storage, shipping, and delivery.
Furthermore, the facility is equipped with air conditioning and fire extinguishing systems tailored to the specific characteristics of cosmetics. As an air-conditioned hazardous materials warehouse, it prevents quality deterioration due to temperature changes, ensuring the safe and hygienic storage of products.
The reason for adding a hazardous materials warehouse was the difficulty in securing storage space for cosmetics, which are classified as "hazardous materials." Hazardous materials warehouses are few in number due to location and structural constraints, and are located separately from general warehouses. This also presented challenges such as increased lead times and transportation costs for transporting goods between warehouses, as well as increased CO2 emissions.
By linking the two warehouses, they can achieve highly efficient operations equivalent to storing all merchandise in a single warehouse. With demand expected to increase, particularly for imported cosmetics, the aim is to strengthen their "cosmetic fulfillment service," which handles everything from receiving to shipping cosmetics.
