On November 5, Mitsui E&S announced that it had begun operating a new service at the Shimizu Port Container Terminal in Shizuoka City, which links the terminal operation system with the dispatch system of a container transport company.
The service that has been launched integrates information held separately by the terminal and container transport companies to make the overall flow of the terminal smoother. It shares information managed by container transport companies, such as "which trucks will arrive at the terminal and when" and "what cargo they will be transporting," with information held by the terminal, such as "scheduled loading and unloading of containers on ships and the progress of the work" and "operating status of cranes, etc.," in real time.
This allows terminal personnel to know in advance when trucks will arrive, enabling them to efficiently arrange containers and prepare work equipment. Container transport companies can then create optimal dispatch plans that take into account terminal congestion.
Additionally, a new service called "Lanescope Recommended Lane Ranking Display" is being offered. By analyzing congestion within the terminal in real time and displaying a ranking of "which lane to go to to retrieve containers for smoother transport," container transport companies can more easily select containers stored in less congested lanes. This also prevents overlapping operations between ships and trucks at the terminal, improving overall terminal efficiency.
