On November 6, Maekawa Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of industrial refrigeration equipment, announced that it will participate in the "On-site Installation Demonstration Project for Industrial Refrigeration and Industrial Heat Pump Equipment" in the Kingdom of Thailand, which will be implemented by Tokyo Century Corporation as the lead contractor.
This project has been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's FY2024 Supplementary Budget Global South Future-Oriented Co-creation Project Subsidy. It involves experimentally introducing Maekawa Manufacturing's "industrial refrigeration and freezing equipment" and "industrial heat pumps," which are compatible with natural refrigerants and have high energy-saving effects, to a total of five Japanese and local companies in Thailand, and verifying their effectiveness.
Furthermore, the aim is to promote the widespread adoption of natural refrigerants and energy-saving equipment by utilizing the leasing services of TISCO Tokyo Leasing, a consolidated subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation.

Since its founding in 1924, Maekawa Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has a track record in the development, manufacturing, and sales of industrial refrigerators, heat pumps, food processing machinery, and more, and holds a global market share of over 40% in industrial refrigerators (according to the company's own research).
The company's strengths lie in its unique solutions, including environmentally friendly natural refrigerant technology and highly efficient equipment. It also features a global network with 54 locations in Japan and 103 locations in 43 countries overseas (as of the end of December 2024), providing support for overseas business development and maintenance.

Through this demonstration project, the company and Maekawa Thailand, headquartered in Thailand, will provide industrial refrigeration and freezing equipment such as the high-efficiency natural refrigerant chiller "NewTon" and the air refrigeration system "PascalAir," as well as industrial heat pump equipment such as the non-CFC hot air heat pump "EcoSirocco" and the water-source EcoCute "Unimo WW."

Among these, the highly efficient natural refrigerant chiller "NewTon" employs an indirect cooling method that cools CO2 with ammonia, a natural refrigerant. All major components are developed and manufactured in-house, and the company claims to achieve significant energy savings through its unique integration and control technologies.
The demonstration will verify its effectiveness and aim to increase awareness in the Thai market of its advantages and usefulness, such as reducing environmental impact.
Furthermore, TISCO Tokyo Leasing will provide the system as a lease for local companies. This will create a scheme that allows local companies to introduce the latest decarbonization solutions while keeping initial investment costs down, and the two companies will continue to collaborate in the commercialization phase as well.
