The Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) published a research report on October 31st titled "Expectations and Challenges for Rental-Type Cold Storage Warehouses."

With the growth of the frozen food and food e-commerce markets, the demand for refrigerated and frozen warehouses continues to increase. On the other hand, existing warehouses are facing the need for replacement due to aging infrastructure and compliance with environmental regulations, but rising construction costs make new construction difficult, and in recent years, the use of rental facilities has been expanding.

The research report summarizes recent demand trends and the current state of supply for refrigerated and frozen warehouses, and examines the future role and prospects of rental-type warehouses, based on the challenges that are hindering the widespread adoption of rental-type warehouses and the efforts of companies to overcome them.
