Japan Pallet Rental (JPR) has launched a special webpage, "Pallet Discovery Room ~Discovery! Learning from the Past, Creating the New~ The Evolving Form of Logistics," to coincide with "Pallet Day" on November 12th.
The aim is not only for those involved in logistics, but also to encourage people to learn about the history of pallet adoption and the thoughts of those involved with pallets, and to make new discoveries.

"Pallet Day" was established by the Japan Pallet Association with the aim of raising awareness of pallets, which are essential for logistics. It is derived from the standard pallet sizes common in Asia: Type 11 (1100mm x 1100mm) and Type 12 (1200mm x 1000mm).
The special webpage explores the history of pallets, delving into their importance and potential in modern and future logistics.
For example, the illustration shows what appears to be a drawing from around 1960 depicting improvement work at a freight station. It illustrates how the introduction of forklifts and pallets significantly reduced the number of manual loading and unloading operations, thus streamlining logistics.
In addition, the book explains the achievements of Naoshi Hirahara (1902-2001), who advocated the concept of palletization, and how the use of pallets contributes to reducing the burden on truck drivers and improving the efficiency and smoothness of logistics, against the backdrop of the 2024 logistics problem.
