On November 12, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. signed a basic agreement with FPT Japan Holdings, the Japanese subsidiary of FPT Corporation, which is headquartered in Vietnam, to collaborate on the recruitment and training of Vietnamese heavy truck drivers utilizing the Specified Skills Visa system.

Yamato Transport aims to hire 100 foreign workers with specific skills annually, creating an environment where they can live and work in Japan with peace of mind after joining the company, while also providing support for their growth as large truck drivers.

Based on the basic agreement, we will begin accepting applications for special classes to be offered at educational institutions in Vietnam operated by the FPT Group starting in December.

Participants in the special class starting in 2026 will receive six months of training in Japanese (N4 level), Japanese culture (basic), and safety training (basic) supervised by Yamato Transport, as well as taking the Specified Skills No. 1 Evaluation Test for the Automobile Transportation Industry (this may be after studying in Japan).

Subsequently, she transitioned to training in Japan, enrolling as an international student at FTP Japan's Japanese language school in 2026. In addition to taking courses in Japanese (N3 level), Japanese culture (advanced), and safety training (advanced) supervised by Yamato Transport, she will also take the conversion test from her foreign driver's license to a Japanese driver's license and obtain a Class 1 Large Vehicle Driver's License.

After joining Yamato Transport in 2027, I will obtain an in-house driver's license from Yamato Transport and work for five years as a large truck driver responsible for inter-base transportation as a specified skilled foreign worker.

The average age of large truck drivers in Japan is 50.9 years old, which is about 6.8 years higher than the average across all industries. To strengthen transportation capacity, training truck drivers with a view to the future is an urgent issue. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the number of people wishing to work abroad is increasing year by year, and the international mobility of talented young people is progressing.

Yamato Transport completes first building in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, which will become the largest logistics hub in the Tohoku region.
