On November 13, the Hokkaido Transport Bureau announced that the Sapporo Transport Branch Office and the Sapporo Regional Cooperation Headquarters of the Japan Self-Defense Forces will co-host a "bus and truck driving experience event" and a "joint job consultation event including taxis" for Self-Defense Forces personnel nearing retirement, to be held on November 29.
Many Self-Defense Force personnel retire in their mid-50s, and many have obtained large vehicle driver's licenses while still in service, making them highly valued as immediate assets in the transportation industry.
The event will be held at the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Makomanai Garrison (Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido) from 12:00 to 16:00. The event will provide an opportunity to experience the appeal of driving work and encourage people to consider the transportation industry as a career option.
Four bus, four taxi, and four truck companies are scheduled to participate on the day, making it the second largest job fair in Hokkaido, following the joint job fair held at the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Higashi-Chitose Garrison on May 27th.
