According to a survey conducted by Yamato Transport regarding the usage and convenience of "delivery to designated location," approximately 70% of those who have used this service reported that they have used it more frequently in the past year.

This survey, conducted from November 8th to 14th this year, received responses from 11,735 people and is the second in a series, following the one conducted last November.

According to the survey results, 75.0% of respondents answered "yes" to the question of whether they had ever used unattended delivery, regardless of the delivery company. The rate of experience with unattended delivery remained almost unchanged from the previous year's 78.5%.

On the other hand, 69.0% of those who had used the contactless delivery service said that they had used it more frequently in the past year. Those who had used contactless delivery once tended to use it again due to its convenience.

Regarding delivery methods, the most common was "in-person delivery" (44.0%), followed by "leaving at door" (36.9%), and then "delivery to a parcel locker" (13.3%). Of these, "leaving at door" and "delivery to a parcel locker" have increased compared to the previous year.

The top reasons cited for using contactless delivery were "not being constrained by time" and "avoiding the hassle of redelivery procedures." One in three people use contactless delivery when they are at home rather than when they are out, a 4.1% increase from the previous year.

The top reasons given for choosing to leave packages at home when "at home" included "it's a hassle to get dressed" (38.3%) and "I'm busy with housework or childcare and can't leave" (24.9%).

Regardless of whether it's Yamato Transport or another company, the number one reason for not using unattended delivery is "concerns about theft risk" (66.3%), for the second year in a row. This is followed by reasons such as "concerns about packages getting wet in the rain" and "wanting to receive packages in person."

Regarding the use of an automatic locking system for unattended delivery, there were concerns about theft and suspicious individuals, but there were also voices of support for its convenience and consideration for drivers.
