On November 28, Konoike Transport announced that its group company, Kyushu Sanko Transport, will open a new base, tentatively named "Tosu Temperature-Controlled Distribution Center," in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture.
The facility will include temperature-controlled and refrigerated warehouses for storing pharmaceuticals, semiconductor components, and other items, as well as warehouses for hazardous materials, and is scheduled to be completed and operational in April 2026.
The new base is conveniently located just 0.5km from the Tosu Interchange, enabling efficient distribution throughout Kyushu, and is expected to become a major distribution hub in the future.
The facility was opened to meet future demand, given its convenient access to the Kumamoto metropolitan area, which is attracting attention due to the influx of semiconductor companies.
The facility is planned to be a four-story steel-frame building with a total floor area of 31,336 square meters. It will include a hazardous materials warehouse (separate building, 297 square meters), 36 loading docks within the warehouse, and will comply with GDP guidelines in terms of temperature control, pest and rodent control, etc.
With the opening of the new facility, the existing Central Kyushu Center (Ogori City, Fukuoka Prefecture), Tosu Center (Tosu City, Saga Prefecture), and Tosu Container Business Office (Tosu City, Saga Prefecture) will be closed. By consolidating warehouse functions at the new facility, the aim is to further improve logistics efficiency.
