On December 1st, alternative investment management company ARES Management Corporation announced the launch of "Marq Logistics" ("Marq") as a new unified brand for its logistics real estate business.
In March 2025, Ares acquired GLP Capital Partners and some of its affiliates' international operations (excluding those in Greater China). This acquisition significantly expanded Ares's business in Japan, adding GLP Japan, which includes one of the largest logistics real estate businesses in the country.
Based on this strong foundation, Ares will launch "Marq Logistics" ("Marq") as a new unified brand for its logistics real estate business. Marq will integrate Ares Industrial Management's logistics real estate business in North America and Europe with GLP's global logistics real estate business operating outside of China.
Marq is Ares' global logistics real estate business, owning and operating approximately 2000 advanced logistics facilities (total floor area: over 1700 million tsubo) across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. By integrating its globally expanding logistics real estate business under a single brand, "Marq," the company aims to further solidify its position as a "partner of choice," leveraging the scale of its logistics real estate business, its knowledge and experience, and its network to consistently provide the highest level of solutions to customers worldwide.
GLP Japan plans to change the brand name of its existing properties around the summer of 2026. New properties completed before then will use the "Marq" name in advance. ALFALINK is a sub-brand of the Marq brand and will continue to be developed as a large-scale, multi-functional logistics facility.
Marq's logistics facilities and services embody a high level of commitment and philosophy: to meet customer needs and support their success. The name "Marq" embodies both "A Mark of Quality" and "Marquee Property," representing the logistics industry. In Japan, as a market leader in logistics real estate, Marq will continue to leverage its deep expertise in the logistics industry to support the business growth of its customers and the sustainable development of the logistics industry.
Julie Solomon, co-head of Ares Real Estate, added, "Marq further expands our leadership in the logistics real estate sector, where we are among the world's top three. At the heart of Marq is a simple yet powerful philosophy: to be a strategic partner that supports our clients' success, and to provide the highest level of service to all our clients by leveraging our global scale and locally rooted facility management."
Yoshiyuki Choza, President of GLP Japan, stated, "Based on the solid foundation that Ares Management Corporation has built, we will further expand the development and operation of higher-quality logistics facilities in Japan. The management structure of our logistics real estate business in Japan, including management staff and employees, will remain unchanged, and we will work in cooperation with all stakeholders to support the logistics industry and aim to realize the sustainable development of the industry."
