Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions, Preferred Robotics, and Daiei Sangyo jointly began a demonstration experiment on November 27th to test a system in which autonomous transport robots work in conjunction with elevators to transport luggage and carts between the lobby and individual apartments in a residential building. The experiment is scheduled to run until January 2026 in an apartment building in Fukuoka City.

The demonstration experiment will utilize Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions' IoT platform "Ville - feuille " to provide a "robot mobility support service" that links Preferred Robotics' autonomous transport robot "Kachakapro" with elevators, verifying the potential for improving the efficiency and automating movement within an apartment building operated and managed by Daiei Sangyo.

In the experiment, residents of the apartment building will use a dedicated browser app to access and test multiple services.

The " Shopping Luggage Delivery Service (from the apartment lobby to each apartment) " is designed for when residents return home from shopping. Residents can load their luggage and heavy items (up to 30kg) onto a cart provided in the lobby, and the "Kachaka Pro" system automatically delivers them to their apartment. The cart can also be taken outside the apartment building and used for loading items from private cars in the apartment parking lot.

In the " Home Delivery Receiving Service (from Delivery Box to Each Room) ," residents retrieve their packages from the delivery box and place them on a cart, which is then automatically transported to each room by "Kachaka Pro." In the future, the process of loading packages from the delivery box into the cart will also be automated, aiming for complete automation of the last mile by enabling autonomous delivery regardless of the delivery company.

The app can be operated from residents' smartphones and tablets, as well as from a dedicated tablet installed in the entrance area.

Through demonstration experiments, we aim to realize a "next-generation building environment where humans and robots coexist," and to contribute to solving social problems such as the 2024 logistics problem and other diversifying social issues through building automation solutions centered on elevator and robot technology.

Fujitsu and others to begin demonstration experiment to build a pharmaceutical logistics platform.
