CDP is an international non-profit organization (NGO) headquartered in London. By 2025, it will work with more than 640 capital markets financial institutions worldwide with total assets under management exceeding US$127 trillion. CDP sends questionnaires to target companies regarding climate change risks and opportunities, and responses, and evaluates them on an eight-point scale (with A being the highest score) based on their responses.
The number of companies responding has been increasing year by year, with approximately 24800 companies responding this time, and the top 4% of all companies evaluated received an A-list rating.
Kawasaki Kisen's long-term environmental guidelines, "“K”LINE Environmental Vision 2050," set the goal of achieving "net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050," and plan to allocate 55% of its total investment (90% including LNG carriers) to new low-carbon businesses such as environmentally friendly vessels that use LNG, liquefied CO2 transport vessels, and offshore wind power generation support vessels.
Furthermore, the company considers not only climate change but also biodiversity conservation to be important themes, in addition to its efforts toward decarbonization of society, and states that its continuous efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities led to this recognition.
