Prologis announced on December 18 that it had held a completion ceremony for "Prologis Park Kitakami Kanegasaki," a multi-tenant logistics facility under construction in Kanegasaki Town, Iwate Prefecture. The total floor area is approximately 55,000 square meters, and 75% of the space has already been leased.

"Prologis Park Kitakami Kanegasaki" is located near the Kitakami Kanegasaki Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway, which runs through Tohoku. It is situated at a point where the Tohoku Expressway and National Route 4 run north-south, and the Akita Expressway and Kamaishi Expressway run east-west.

With easy access to various parts of Tohoku, including Morioka City (approximately 60 minutes), Sendai City (approximately 90 minutes), and Akita City (approximately 120 minutes), it is well-suited for wide-area distribution. Furthermore, its location, approximately 10km from Kitakami Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen and 6km from Kanegasaki Station on the Tohoku Main Line, offers a favorable environment for employment.

The facility is a two-story building with an effective ceiling height of approximately 5.5m on both floors and a floor load capacity of 1.5t per square meter. It's a maisonette-type facility that allows for vertical use of both floors, offering high storage efficiency and equipped with a cargo elevator. It can also accommodate the addition of vertical conveyors.

To prepare for snowfall, the first floor features elevated truck berths along two driveways running through the building, and the facility also provides snow removal services. Snow-melting heaters are installed in the facility's gutters. In addition, to suit the facility's length of approximately 280m, lounges and hot water supply areas are located next to the offices in each private unit on the first floor.

Another notable aspect of their sustainability efforts is the use of upcycled artwork made from waste materials of asparagus and kale, which are specialty products of Kanegasaki Town, within the facility.

Furthermore, Prologis has decided to develop a build-to-suit (BTS) logistics facility, "Prologis Park Kitakami Kanegasaki 2," on land adjacent to "Prologis Park Kitakami Kanegasaki."

The facility design, including scale, number of floors, and number of buildings, will be tailored to the needs of the tenant companies. However, they also plan to be flexible in accommodating requests such as the development of HAZMAT (hazardous materials warehouses), refrigerated and frozen warehouses, and increased load-bearing capacity to accommodate manufacturing businesses.
