Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight) announced on December 24th that some freight trains on the Nemuro Line between Onbetsu Station and Shiranuka Station have been cancelled.
According to the report, a low-pressure system that occurred on December 14th caused the track bed on the line to be washed away, resulting in the cancellation of freight train services. As of 12:00 PM on December 24th, restoration work is underway.
In addition, to compensate for the freight train service, trucks are providing alternative transportation between Obihiro Freight Station and Kushiro Freight Station.
Train service on the Nemuro Line between Onbetsu Station and Shiranuka Station is expected to resume early in the morning of December 27th. Substitute transportation by truck is scheduled to end on December 25th.
