On October 30, Kawasaki Kisen supplied marine biofuel to the car carrier "SERENITY HIGHWAY" at Nagoya Port. This marks the first time that the company has supplied biofuel to a vessel operated by them in the Chubu region.
FAME (fatty acid methyl esters), which are contained in biofuels, are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 84% throughout their entire lifecycle (from raw material production to final fuel use) compared to conventional fossil fuels.
By using "B24," a mixture of 24% FAME (Fuel Oil for Substances) and low-sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO), the "SERENITY HIGHWAY" voyage is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 750 tons.
The FAME used in manufacturing meets EU standards (ISCC-EU certification), and Proof of Sustainability (PoS) is issued upon supply, thus complying with international sustainability standards.
