Nippon Yusen announced on January 5th that its group company, Keihin Dock, had received certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for its "Business Base Strengthening Plan."

The "Business Foundation Strengthening Plan" was submitted under the "Business Foundation Strengthening Plan Certification System," which was established based on the Maritime Industry Strengthening Act. This system aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Japan's shipbuilding and shipping sectors, reform working conditions for seafarers, and improve productivity in domestic shipping. By obtaining certification, businesses can take advantage of various economic support measures, such as tax breaks, financial assistance, and subsidy programs, for a period of five years.

The "Business Foundation Strengthening Plan," which was recently approved, aims to fundamentally reform the business structure and other aspects in order to balance responding to customer demands with operational efficiency. The goal is to move away from symptomatic treatment during the construction phase and to build business processes by eliminating obstacles in the pre-construction phase, and the company will proceed with implementation to achieve this.

Furthermore, Keihin Dock, in June 2025, submitted a joint DX (Digital Transformation) project with Fluid Technology, which was approved for subsidies from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. This approval comes at a time when the government has put forward a "Shipbuilding Industry Revitalization Roadmap" and is promoting shipbuilding support policies. This is a step towards revitalizing Japan's maritime cluster, and Keihin Dock says it will focus on executing the plan to further develop its business.
