On January 6, GLP Japan announced that it had signed a "GLP Solar Power Generation PPA Service" agreement with Ryobi Holdings, and had installed a self-consumption type solar power generation system on the roof of Ryobi Holdings' dedicated facility, with power supply beginning in October of last year. This is the third time GLP Japan has installed a self-consumption type solar power generation system on an operational property with the cooperation of its tenant customers.

0106glp1 - GLP Japan/Ryobi HD installs solar power generation equipment on the roof of its logistics facility and begins supplying electricity.

The contract scheme involves Kyocera Communication Systems handling everything from EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) to O&M (operation and maintenance) of the solar power generation system, while GLP Japan will make the investment and install 792kW of solar panels across the entire roof of the facility, supplying renewable energy directly to the building.

This will allow renewable energy to supplement the facility's electricity consumption, with approximately 54% of Ryobi Holdings' projected annual electricity demand being met by solar power generation, resulting in an expected annual reduction of approximately 283 tons of CO2 emissions.

Furthermore, the PPA model allows tenant companies to utilize renewable energy at stable rates without incurring initial investment or maintenance costs, thus contributing to the strengthening of ESG and CSR activities. The fact that there is no obligation to restore the premises to their original condition after the contract ends, ensuring a stable power supply over the long term, is also a benefit of adopting this model.
