Mediceo, a consolidated subsidiary of Medipal Holdings, announced on January 13th that it has opened a new logistics base, "Tokyo ALC (Area Logistics Center)," in Koto Ward, Tokyo, with the aim of strengthening a sustainable and stable supply system for medical pharmaceuticals and other products in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Mediceo had been operating "Tokyo Central FLC (Front Logistics Center)" as one of its key bases in Tokyo since 2013. However, in order to address the increasing volume of pharmaceutical shipments, future logistics issues, and strengthen business continuity plans in anticipation of emergencies such as earthquakes, the company established "Tokyo ALC" as a new logistics base by leasing and renovating an existing warehouse property. All functions of "Tokyo Central FLC" were transferred to "Tokyo ALC," and the shipping scale and coverage area were expanded.
"Tokyo ALC" is a disaster prevention base located in the eastern part of Tokyo's 23 wards, significantly expanding its capacity and area of pharmaceutical supply during disasters such as earthquakes. In addition to its seismic isolation structure, it is equipped with a private power generation system, enabling full operation for 72 hours even during power outages. Aiming for uninterrupted logistics even during disasters, it fulfills its responsibility as social infrastructure to protect people's lives and health.
By combining our long-cultivated logistics expertise with the latest AI technology and material handling equipment, we have built a system to deliver a wide range of products, including pharmaceuticals, medical materials, medical devices, and clinical testing reagents, safely, securely, and with high quality. We have achieved an extremely high delivery accuracy of 99.9997% (6σ: Six Sigma), providing high-quality logistics services to medical institutions.
Capital investment is approximately 11 billion yen (building renovation costs, equipment, machinery, etc.), and projected annual shipments (initial operation) are approximately 1100 billion yen.
The Medipal Group has been expanding its ALC (Automated Land Reclamation) facilities nationwide to build a system that safely, securely, and efficiently connects pharmaceutical companies to medical institutions in the distribution of pharmaceuticals. To date, 13 facilities are operational in the following order of completion: Kanagawa, South Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Tohoku, South Tokyo, Fukuoka, Saitama, Okayama, South Kyushu, Kanto, Hiroshima, and Hanshin.
Going forward, by housing not only Mediceo but also other Medipal Group companies in "Tokyo ALC," the company aims to further expand it into the group's first multi-purpose center, optimizing the entire supply chain and strengthening its business foundation.
The building previously used as "Tokyo Central FLC" will be temporarily closed and renovated to serve as a building for business operations.
