On February 19, SBS LogiCom conducted an "exchange lesson" for first-year students at Midori Junior High School in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture, to teach them about the importance and future potential of logistics.
Following a highly successful lesson for second-year students conducted last December at their request, Tomoki Shinmitsu, Section Chief of the Quality Control Office in the Business Operations Department, continued as the instructor.
In the lesson, we introduced "logistics," the process from when a company produces goods to when they reach the consumer after being stored and transported. We explained that it's an industry that not only transports goods but also performs various other functions.
The seven main functions of logistics were explained as "transportation," "storage," "cargo handling," "packaging," "distribution processing," and "information systems."

The presentation also explained how, due to the maturation of society and the progress of globalization, logistics has evolved from simply "the job of transporting goods" to an industry that supports the optimization of corporate activities and the entire supply chain across national borders.
Through the lessons, students were able to deepen their understanding of the importance and future potential of logistics, as well as its role as an industry that supports society. SBS LogiCom plans to continue deepening its interaction with local communities and continuing initiatives that contribute to educational activities and the development of future talent.
SBS LogiCom is in charge of transporting Keio Electric Railway's new 2000 series trains.
