Asahi Logistics announced on April 7 that Chisato Nishiyama was appointed President and Representative Director of AB Cargo, a consolidated subsidiary of the company that handles large-scale transportation, effective March 23. Minoru Koki retired on the same date.
AB Cargo was established in 2005 as the large-scale transportation division of Asahi Logistics. As a company that supports the logistics of the Asahi Group, it delivers goods throughout Japan. In 2025, the two companies, one in the east and one in the west, merged to form a new structure.
After graduating from a dressmaking vocational school, President Nishiyama joined a clothing manufacturer and worked there for about 10 years. He was in charge of overseas sewing, and was involved in the international supply chain, exporting European fabrics to Asia and importing the finished products back to Japan. During that time, he experienced the impact of delays in import customs clearance on delivery times and recognized the importance of logistics. He obtained a customs broker license and joined Asahi Logistics in 2006 as a founding member of the customs clearance business.
After joining the company, he was broadly responsible for the customs clearance department, from importing raw materials and alcoholic beverages to exporting alcoholic beverages and beverage products. In 2024, he led the organization as the General Manager of Sales Planning, and recently became the Representative Director of AB Cargo, which handles large-scale transportation.
Become a logistics company of choice without fear of change.
New president Nishiyama will prioritize "safety" above all else, and base his work on creating an environment where drivers can work with pride.
He then emphasized, "In an era where it's said that transportation will become impossible, we will actively incorporate new services and systems, and evolve without fear of change." He spoke of his ambition to further expand the scale of the company from its current fleet of 348 large trucks, and to leverage the experience and network cultivated within the Asahi Logistics Group, saying, "We want to become a logistics company chosen by even more customers."
