The ceremony was attended by Indonesian port and customs officials, representatives from the Japanese Embassy, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), various automobile manufacturers, and shareholders of the terminal operating company. It provided an opportunity to confirm the terminal's operational capacity with actual vessels and to share a new option for automobile logistics in Indonesia with stakeholders.

Patimban Port is a new port being developed under the leadership of the Indonesian government, with phased construction starting in 2018. A dedicated automobile terminal was completed in 2021, and expansion work is currently underway.
